After years of hard work and dedication, we’re proud to announce the official launch of our Blak Cede Online Store! 2024 has been a massive year for Blak Cede. From opening our café—providing culturally safe employment and educational opportunities—to now expanding into the e-commerce space. This journey has been nothing short of incredible.
Entering the e-commerce space has always been part of Blak Cede’s strategic direction. Our goal is to support Waminda’s economic independence, ensure financial stability, and continue creating a lasting impact in our community. While we’re starting small, we have big plans to grow. Over time, we’ll expand our product range, merchandise offerings, and collaborations with local Blak artists and businesses.

Behind the Scenes
The idea for the Blak Cede Online Store has been brewing since before the café even opened. Back in 2022, we took a big step by renting a warehouse in South Nowra to scale up production and invest in tools like an industrial packaging machine. While working towards launching the e-commerce space, we had the unexpected opportunity to open the café—an offer we couldn’t pass up. This decision delayed the online store but allowed us to establish a stronger foundation for future growth.
Since opening the café, we’ve had Marle join the team as our E-commerce Coordinator. Marle, along with the team, has worked tirelessly to set up the e-commerce and warehouse space—a completely new venture for most of us at Blak Cede and Waminda. We’re so grateful for the guidance and support from Waminda’s IT and Systems Leader, Chief Operations Officer, the Chief Executive Leadership Team, and the Showell Tech team.

We had various launch dates in mind, but we wanted to ensure everything was perfect before going live. After brainstorming and planning, we decided that Boxing Day (December 26th 2024) would be the ideal date. This gave us the time to refine, finalise and perfect the Blak Cede Online store.
A huge shoutout to the Bulwul Balang (young women) and Guman Nanga-Mai (grandfather dreaming) youth who absolutely nailed it as models for our merchandise range! And to Aimee Lonesborough (@allphotography__), thank you for capturing these stunning photos—we value your support.
